How can I prevent wrinkles and sagging of the upper eyelid?

Did you know?

The thinness and fragility of the skin around our eyes tend to reflect the first signs of aging. In this area, the skin has 3 layers whose thickness can be up to 15 times less than in other parts of the body.

Because of this thinness, it rapidly loses its elasticity and collagen production declines, leading to sagging, wrinkles and drooping eyelids.

The role of different skin layers.

Skin is made up of three main layers: epidermis, dermis and hypodermis. The natural aging process affects the skin at all levels, all contributing to the appearance of visible signs of ageing on the surface.

As a protective barrier, the Epidermis shields the body from external elements and prevents bacteria and germs from penetrating. Every day, around 40,000 skin cells are eliminated by the epidermis, as it builds new cells. It is also this layer of the skin that contains melanin, giving the skin its color. With age, this layer undergoes numerous microcracks.

The Dermis, the second layer of the skin, makes up around 90% of the skin's thickness. This layer of skin also produces natural "oils" that define its soft-touch properties and texture. The dermis contains collagen, hyaluronic acid and elastin, which make the skin resistant and help maintain its shape. As the natural production of these elements declines, skin slackens and loses moisture content, becoming thinner and drier over time.

The Hypodermis, the adipose layer of the skin, contains fat cells that cushion muscles and bones, as well as connective tissue, which regulates body temperature and performs many important functions for the body. With age, this layer of skin loses some of its fat cell volume, making it thinner and more fragile, prone to tears, bruises and slower recovery.

The skin around the eyes is particularly sensitive to the effects of aging caused by these natural processes. Among the most common effects of aging in this area are the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines all over the periorbital skin, crow's feet, and upper eyelid creases caused by sagging.

Is cosmetic surgery a solution?

The solutions currently offered by cosmetic surgery to treat the signs of ageing in the eyes are often invasive and entail long recovery periods.

One solution is blepharoplasty, which removes excess skin from the upper eyelid to reduce sagging skin. Botulinum toxin, or Botox, is also widely used in aesthetic medicine to treat signs of ageing around the eyes, smoothing out crow's feet and creating a slight rise in the eyebrow, thus opening up the eyes. Another solution is the Plexr technique, which retracts the skin by burning the upper eyelid, reducing excess skin.

It's important to remember that cosmetic surgery is not for everyone. Results can be slow to appear, and these methods often require additional interventions over the years. Skin Office Paris' Eye Recipe treatment has been designed with this in mind, with the aim of providing both a complementary and an alternative solution to cosmetic surgery.

How is science at the heart of Eye Recipe eye care?

The Eye Recipe formula combines several powerful and effective natural ingredients to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles throughout the periorbital area, as well as expression lines, i.e. the formation of crow's feet in the outer corner of the eye, while reinforcing skin hydration and firming. It therefore has both a therapeutic and a preventive effect.

To reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as expression lines, the Eye Recipe formulation contains Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, which limits wrinkle formation by relaxing facial muscles. Thanks to its hydrophilic and reparative properties, this ingredient gives skin a youthful, rejuvenated appearance. Like botox, this natural ingredient inhibits the activity of neurotransmitters in the skin's superficial layers, allowing the skin to relax and therefore wrinkle.

To combat the formation of wrinkles, particularly crow's feet at the corner of the upper eyelid, Abilizia Julibrissin bark extract and Darutoside are key ingredients in Eye Recipe. This complex lifts the upper eyelid, reducing wrinkle formation while strengthening and improving the properties of the dermis.

Eye Recipe eye care also combats ageing, boosting skin hydration and firming, thanks to the fusion of two hyaluronic acids. Our formula combines ultra-low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid for deep hydration and plumping, and high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid for surface hydration and tightening.

Finally, the massage tool stimulates the skin's blood microcirculation, which can diminish over time, weakening the skin and slowing its renewal process. This vasoconstriction induced by the massage tool makes Eye Recipe's active ingredients even more effective. The combination of the massage tool and the Eye Recipe formula working hand in hand to reduce wrinkles and micro-cracks.
